OK, so this is not the most exciting topic we have ever posted but it is relevant! 25 May is the date that the new privacy laws come into effect (GDPR). You will have received many eMails from different organisations asking you to ‘opt-in’ otherwise the organization should not contact you again. We have eMailed all those on our ‘conferences list’ asking for people to opt – in if they want to hear from us in the future.

Those who are receiving our eNews have already opted-in by providing us with their details and we have presumed consent; so we are not asking for this again (only people who have asked, have been subscribed). If you are receiving eNews and you don’t want to continue receiving it then use the ‘unsubscribe’ option on each eNews or contact us and we will remove your name. If you want to look at our privacy statement you will find it here. If you want to look at our privacy policy we can send you a copy on request.

What is perhaps less well known is that 25 May is also the implementation date for the way patients data is made identifiable and how it is used for care and treatment and also for research and planning purposes in the NHS. This is completely separate from GDPR. You are likely to be told about this and your options by your GP surgery or hospital. There is a useful explanatory link, provided by Use My Data  here
