For many years CUP was covered within a sub group of the Upper GI Clinical Studies Group (CSG) of the National Cancer Research Institute. Recommendations for UK CUP research projects would be subject to peer review by the group prior to submission for funding . Towards the end of 2017 NCRI reviewed the positioning of CUP and it was removed from its home within the Hepatobiliary sub group. We have been assured that there are a number of options under consideration to re-position CUP within the NCRI umbrella. In the meantime two CUP-oriented research meetings have taken place, and another is scheduled for December 2018, under the auspices of NCRI. CUP has not been forgotten by the research community!
